The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday announced that preparations for its November 15–16 national convention in Ibadan are in full swing, declaring the event will serve as a re-launch of the party as Nigeria’s credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
At a press briefing in Abuja, PDP national publicity secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, revealed that the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC) has set up 11 subcommittees covering logistics, security, transport, media, and other key areas to ensure a seamless convention.
He said the convention would strengthen the PDP’s cohesion and position it as the only party capable of rescuing Nigeria from what he described as the failures of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Our party is organic, democratic, and connected to the people; whatever comes out of Ibadan will put the PDP on very solid ground to take over government in 2027,” Ologunagba said.

While criticizing APC’s governance as “propaganda-driven,” he urged Nigerians to judge the ruling party by its impact on daily life, citing rising food prices, mounting taxes, and worsening insecurity.
Ologunagba also warned that Nigerians would not tolerate excuses of “glitches” in the 2027 polls, stressing that electoral technology like BVAS must work seamlessly, just like POS machines and ATMs across the country.
He confirmed that zoning arrangements for party offices have been approved by the National Executive Committee (NEC), while micro-zoning consultations and sale of forms are ongoing.
Concluding, Ologunagba said Nigerians yearning for credible governance will find in the PDP’s Ibadan convention “a rallying point for democratic renewal.”
