Abia Rep Alex Ikwechegh to Face Charges for Assaulting Bolt Driver | Daily Report Nigeria

Abia State Representative Alex Ikwechegh is slated to be arraigned at the Kuje Magistrate Court today at 12 p.m.

Following his alleged assault on Bolt driver Stephen Abuwatseya in Maitama, Abuja, the incident has drawn significant public condemnation and scrutiny.

The incident, which occurred on October 27, was captured on video and subsequently went viral, prompting widespread outrage among Nigerians.

In response to the backlash, Ikwechegh has publicly apologized and expressed his intention to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation led by the Inspector General of Police’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU).

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju confirmed the court proceedings, stating, “We are on our way to Kuje Magistrate Court for the arraignment of the honourable member who assaulted our client, Mr. Stephen.”

He further emphasized the importance of the media’s presence at the arraignment.
