EFCC Arraigns Katsina Deputy Accountant-General Over N261m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has warned skit makers against the unauthorised use of its operational gear in comedy skits.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that EFCC’s warning follows the resurgence of an old video titled “EFCC and Army Wahala” on social media platforms.

In a statement released on Monday via X, the anti-corruption agency voiced its profound concern over the misrepresentation of its operatives in such productions.

The EFCC reiterated its warning to skit makers and social media influencers to cease the illegal and irresponsible use of the commission’s operational attire.

It was dismayed at the portrayal of its agents in the video, labelling it a “caricature of the operational etiquette of the EFCC.”

The video, according to the EFCC, depicted a disgraceful characterisation of supposed operatives, showing them terrorising “suspects” in a manner that is both embarrassing and suggestive of a deliberate attempt to tarnish the commission’s image.

According to the agency, its operatives are not bullies but are trained as modern law enforcement officers who embody decency, civility, and respect for the public, including suspects of economic and financial crimes.

It said:
Skit makers are warned again to desist from the unauthorised use of the Commission’s accoutrements.”
