The assembly member representing Burutu Constituency 1 in the Delta State House of Assembly, Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo, has welcomed Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Daily Report Nigeria reported that Oborevwori, his appointees, and followers on Wednesday decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in Delta State.
Reacting to the development, Alapala described Oborevwori’s defection to the APC as a “testament of the united we stand and divided we fall’ principles of the broom which is the conceptualized emblem of the progressives.”

“Personally, as the only ijaw house of assembly member elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the whole of Delta South in the last state elections, I cannot contain my joy because I see this as a pure divine working, having my well respected leaders from Constituency to even the state level which have being on the other side of the divide in terms of party’ coming over to graciously add more blessings to the All Progressives Congress is a joy I cannot keep within”.
Alapala also expressed gratitude to Oborevwori “for his fatherly role in ensuring that our beloved state rises above political and party sentiments.”
The lawmaker also welcomed his colleagues in the assembly, particularly the House Speaker Emomotimi Guwor, describing their moving with the governor as “a testament of the incorruptible relationship between the assembly and other arms of government in the state”.
“This is a tsunami only those against the progress of our state will be unhappy about. But for all of us at the progressive end, this is only a step to putting our state in higher and greater light,” he added.
Alapala commended President Bola Tinubu, National and State Chairmen of the APC “for their unwavering commitment towards the growth of our beloved party. Together, we shall continue to welcome more states into the progressive fold as we collectively support Mr. President on his renewed hope for Nigerians.”
