The Bayelsa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially reversed the suspension of several prominent party members, including Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri.

This decision came after an extended meeting involving state executives, local government chairmen, and party lawmakers.

The meeting addressed ongoing tensions within the party, particularly in Southern Ijaw, Ekeremor, Sagbama, and Yenagoa local government areas, where significant figures like Senator Lokpobiri and former gubernatorial candidate Chief David Lyon were suspended.

In a communiqué released on October 15, the state chairman, Chief Dennis Otiotio-Odoni, and acting State Secretary, Owutuamo Tamaranpreye, announced the suspension reversal following a plea from the minority caucus of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.

The communiqué condemned recent violent actions allegedly perpetrated by the state Commissioner for Power, Mr. Kharin Kumoku, who reportedly led an attack on the APC state secretariat.

The communiqué urged Governor Douye Diri to address the commissioner’s conduct and called for investigations by the state’s police and the Department of State Services.
