Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the appointment of Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo.

According to report from The Nation, in a statement signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, it was revealed that Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade was recommended by the Oyomesi after extensive consultations and divinations. His recommendation was subsequently endorsed by the Governor of Oyo State.

1. Prince Akeem Owoade is both a Nigerian and Canadian entrepreneur, philanthropist, and the president of 100279 Manitoba Limited, a company specializing in real estate investment and financial services in Manitoba, Canada.

2. Born in 1978, Prince Owoade hails from the Owoade-Agunloye royal family in Oyo town.

3. He is one of the surviving children of Pa Rasaki Ibiyosi Owoade, a descendant of Aremo Aderounmu Iyanda Owoade from the Agure Compound in Oyo town, Oyo State, Nigeria.

4. Prince Akeem Owoade completed his secondary education at Baptist High School, Saki, Oyo State, in 1992.

5. His father, Pa Rasaki Owoade, contributed to agricultural development in the Oke-Ogun community through his work with the Oyo North Agricultural Development Programme (ONADEP).
