In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested approximately 130 foreign nationals, primarily from China and Malaysia, for alleged involvement in high-level cybercrimes and activities deemed harmful to national security.

The operation took place on November 3, 2024, in the Jahi area of Abuja, where the suspects were found using advanced technology to facilitate their illicit activities.

According to a statement released by NPF spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the group includes 87 males and 26 females, along with 17 Nigerians who were also apprehended during the operation.

“This strategic operation was conducted through a coordinated raid on a building at the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Abuja,” Adejobi stated. “The suspects were reportedly using computers and other sophisticated devices to facilitate criminal activities.”

“The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of our investigations,” he added, underscoring the NPF’s commitment to tackling cybercrime and protecting national security.
