Abia-born cleric, Bishop Silas Eke, has attributed the overwhelming demand for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu to pursue another term in 2027 to his outstanding performance as the lawmaker representing Abia North Senatorial District in the National Assembly.

Speaking with newsmen in Umuahia on Saturday, Bishop Eke highlighted that Kalu’s achievements have significantly benefited all three senatorial districts in Abia State.

He stated: “If you visit Abia South Senatorial District, you will witness the projects he attracted to Ariaria in Aba and the surrounding areas. In Abia Central, you’ll find his initiatives in Isialangwa and the hostels he constructed in Umuahia. In the Northern Senatorial District, which he represents, his projects are evident throughout Arochukwu, Ohafia, Bende, Isikwuato, and Umunneochi.

“Consequently, it is the collective desire of the entire state for him to return to the Senate in 2027. We are all urging him to run again and continue the good work he has been doing across Abia. As a pastor with over 30 years of experience in this region, I can confidently say that until Kalu took office in 2019, we had no idea lawmakers could also construct roads, schools, health centres, and much more.

“He is currently renovating and building over 100 schools across the Abia North Senatorial District, an unprecedented achievement in the state’s history. Furthermore, he has constructed over 70 rural roads, installed solar-powered streetlights in more than 150 communities, provided educational materials, and sponsored students on scholarships to South America. His extensive human development programmes are truly remarkable.”

Bishop Eke also praised Kalu’s legacy as the former Executive Governor of Abia State, where he initiated free education for all.

He emphasised that the widespread support for Kalu’s re-election campaign transcends all sectors, including traditional rulers, town union leaders, university lecturers, medical professionals, teachers, lawyers, women, and youth leaders.

“You cannot have someone like Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and not encourage him to run again in 2027. Abia State is fortunate to have him. We take immense pride in him, for he is a tremendous asset, and we are confident he will respond to our call by entering the race in 2027 as the consensus candidate for Abia North Senatorial District,” Bishop Eke concluded.
