Israel, the United States, and Britain conducted coordinated airstrikes against Houthi strongholds in Yemen on Friday, marking a dramatic escalation, according to Press TV. The Jerusalem Post reported that the strikes targeted important military facilities, such as the ports of Hodeidah and Ras Issa on Yemen’s western coast, as well as power plants.
The operation, reportedly the largest joint effort by the three nations since the war began, involved more than 20 Israeli aircraft dropping 50 munitions on various targets. The coalition focused on degrading Houthi military capabilities, with Israel targeting economic facilities such as ports and power plants, while the U.S. and Britain struck underground weapons storage and command centers.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the strikes, stating, “The Houthis are paying, and will continue to pay, a heavy price for their aggression against us. They pose a danger to Israel, the region, and global navigation.” Defense Minister Israel Katz echoed this, warning that “there will be no immunity for anyone,” and pledging to pursue Houthi leaders.
Hamas condemned the strikes, alleging they targeted civilian infrastructure and a demonstration supporting Palestinians in Gaza, calling the actions a “blatant violation of international law.”
This operation follows a series of Houthi missile and drone attacks on Israel, with 40 missiles and 320 drones reportedly launched since the conflict began. CENTCOM recently confirmed additional strikes on Houthi weapons facilities earlier this week.
