BREAKING: Again, Military Airstrike Kills Terrorists in North Central State

The Nigerian Military on Thursday, January 23, said it successfully killed scores of terrorists in their hideout in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

The director of information and public relations for the Nigerian Air Force, Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Olusola Akinboyewa said the terrorists were neutralized during aerial assaults by the institution in Alawa Forest.

Akinboyewa noted that the aerial assault was carried out by the air component of the Operation FANSAN YAMMA, a special offensive launched to flush terrorists out of the North West and North Central regions of Nigeria.

He said that the operation which was carried out on Tuesday, January 21, successfully aided in the dismantling of the terrorists’ hideout in the forest.

According to Akinboyewa, the operation was conducted following credible intelligence and confirmatory procedure by the Air Force around the location.

He said, “These criminals were linked to widespread violence, including two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks on 19 December 2024 in Bassa, Shiroro LGA, which claimed several innocent lives.

“In response, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) launched a three-day sustained air operation, code-named KONAN DAJI, to degrade the terrorists’ capabilities and render the forest inhabitable for the,” Akinboyewa stated.

He added that several multiple secondary explosions were confirmed following the military’s operation against the terrorists as the jets engaged identified targets with precision strikes.

He noted that efforts have been put in place by the military to sustain lasting peace and security for communities around the Alawa Forest and its surroundings.
