BREAKING: Anyanwu Storms PDP Secretariat, Resumes as National Secretary [VIDEO]

Senator Samuel Anyanwu has resumed his duties as the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

The development comes despite the Court of Appeal’s ruling that removed him from the position.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that protesters loyal to Anyanwu stormed the party’s secretariat on Monday morning, in anticipation of the resumption of Sunday Ude-Okoye, who was declared the authentic National Secretary by the Court of Appeal.

The controversy surrounding Anyanwu’s position began when he became the PDP gubernatorial candidate in Imo State, prior to the November 2023 election. The Court of Appeal ruled that his continuation as National Secretary after becoming the PDP candidate in Imo State violated the party’s constitution. It affirmed that Ude-Okoye is the rightful holder of the position.

However, Anyanwu insists that he will remain in office until the Supreme Court issues a final ruling. His stance is supported by some legal experts, who argue that his decision to resume office is in order, having filed a stay of execution and an appeal before the Supreme Court.

Following his resumption on Monday morning, Anyanwu called on all party faithful to remain steadfast as they move to challenge the ruling party in the 2027 elections.

It can be recalled that the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, had earlier stated that the party would honour the judgment of the Appeal court sacking Anyanwu. However, the party has yet to comment on the latest development.
