BREAKING: Cameroonian rebels arrested in Nigeria

Troops of the 6th Division have arrested four suspected members of the Ambazonian rebels in Taraba.

The Ambazonia is a rebel group operating in the neighbouring Republic of Cameroon.

In a statement issued on Saturday in Jalingo by Capt. Olubodunde Oni, the Assistant Director of Public Relations, Nigerian Army, said the suspects were arrested at a hotel in Takum.

The statement said that based on reliable intelligence, the suspects were tracked down and arrested. They have confessed to being part of the rebel group that is carrying out attacks and fighting using firearms in collaboration with some Nigerians.

The statement added that four mobile phones were recovered from the suspects, who are currently in custody pending further investigation.

Also, in a separate operation, based on intelligence received, troops deployed to Natilde in Bantaji area of ​​Wukari Local Government Area of ​​the state intercepted a vehicle carrying 19 stolen fuel cylinders bearing the logo of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPCL).

The statement said that continued collaboration with the National Security Council (NSCDC) in Wukari division led to the recovery of 11 more cylinders, bringing the total number of recovered cylinders to 30.

“The recovered items have been handed over to the NSCDC in Wukari division for further investigation and appropriate action.
