The ongoing reforms under the leadership of Dr. Olayemi Cardoso at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) are transforming the country’s economic landscape, with positive indicators suggesting a promising outlook for 2025.

Speaking during a webinar hosted by Nigerian NewsDirect Newspaper, Managing Director and CEO of the Center for Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE), Dr Muda Yusuf highlighted the significant impact of the reforms.

Yusuf noted that inflows from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) have increased under Cardoso’s tenure, signaling renewed confidence in Nigeria’s fiscal management.

Additionally, the CBN has established a more coherent structural framework, leading to the clearance of most mature obligations. “Our reserve situation is now better than it used to be,” Yusuf stated, emphasizing the improvement in foreign reserve management.

According to Economist Muda, the reforms, which prioritize fiscal discipline and monetary policy restructuring, have positioned Nigeria on a path to economic recovery. Experts believe that if sustained, these measures could stimulate growth, stabilize the naira, and enhance investor confidence in the coming year.

As stakeholders look to 2025, the consensus is that the CBN’s renewed focus on macroeconomic stability and structural reforms will further bolster the economy.
