Barely a week after killing two police officers, terrorists belonging to Lakurawa group have killed three persons that their identity are now subject to controversy at a telecommunication mast.
According to a report by Dailytrust, the insurgents attacked the construction site in Gumki village, located in the Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The report further revealed that the deceased were installing a surveillance mast for the Nigeria Immigration Service when the terrorists struck, resulting in their deaths, along with that of an unidentified individual.
While the police report stated that three of the deceased were Airtel staff, local residents assert that they were immigration officials. A staff member from Sir Yahaya Specialist Hospital confirmed to the newspaper that the three deceased brought to the hospital were indeed immigration personnel.
However, Police Public Relations Officer SP Nafiu Abubakar stated that four individuals lost their lives: one local resident and three Airtel employees.
He explained that upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police for Kebbi State, CP Bello M. Sani, along with the Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, CIS Muhammad Bashir Lawali, dispatched their teams to the scene to recover the bodies and transport them to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital in Birnin Kebbi.
