The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has summoned Rasaq Okoya’s two sons in connection with a viral video showing them disrespecting the Naira.

Wahab and Subomi gained widespread attention last week after a video surfaced of them spraying Naira notes from bundles of cash held by their police escort. The footage has sparked considerable outrage across social media.

The invitation extended to the Okoyas was signed by one Michael Wetkas.

On January 10, Muyiwa Adejobi, spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), announced that the officer featured in the video had been arrested and detained. He indicated that the officer would face serious disciplinary measures for his unethical conduct.

“The policeman depicted in the recent viral video involving the sons of Lagos businessman Chief Okoya, where they were abusing the Naira, has been identified and taken into custody for disciplinary action,” Adejobi stated on X.

“The involvement of this officer has been condemned, as it is deemed unethical. We will always work diligently to uphold the sanctity, credibility, and core values of the police.”
