1 week ago 7

Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, Bala Mohammed, has called on President Bola Tinubu to remove individuals within his cabinet who he described as “excess baggage.”

Governor Mohammed stated that while governors have faith in President Tinubu’s leadership, some cabinet members are hindering his efforts.

He urged the President to take decisive action to address the issue, stressing that it was necessary for effective governance.

The Bauchi governor made the remarks as a special guest during the commissioning of the 14.1km Umuakali-Eberi Road in Omuma Local Government Area of Rivers State.

He emphasized that governance should take precedence over politics in every state, praising Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, for prioritizing the welfare of his people.

Governor Mohammed expressed confidence in Governor Fubara’s leadership, noting that the performance of the Rivers State governor had dispelled any previous doubts.

He lauded Fubara’s calmness and maturity in managing the political crisis in the state, attributing it to his strong character and sound leadership qualities.

“From what I have seen today, I am no longer worried about his capacity to lead Rivers State,” Mohammed remarked, adding that Fubara’s ability to navigate complex political terrain proves that political experience isn’t solely defined by the number of years spent in politics.

Mohammed further advised older politicians to recognize when it is time to step aside and give room for younger leaders to take charge.

He likened Governor Fubara to a “field marshal” rather than just a “general,” suggesting that his leadership skills are far superior to expectations.

He also urged the people of Rivers State to support Governor Fubara for a second term in 2027, commending him for his developmental strides.

In response, Governor Siminalayi Fubara expressed gratitude to the people of Omuma for their unwavering support, especially during the state’s recent political crisis.

He attributed his administration’s success to the collective support of the people and key political stakeholders.

Governor Fubara highlighted the significance of the newly commissioned Umuakali-Eberi Road, describing it as a key milestone in the area’s development.

He thanked Governor Bala Mohammed for honoring the invitation to commission the project.

Reaffirming his commitment to his campaign promises, Governor Fubara stressed that his administration is focused on building strong institutions and empowering capable individuals to drive development, rather than promoting self-serving interests.

He also announced plans to revamp the community’s secondary school and healthcare centre, taking over the projects from the Local Government Chairman, Promise Reginald.

Governor Fubara pledged to rehabilitate more roads in the area as part of his developmental agenda, reaffirming his resolve to deliver on his promises of good governance.
