BREAKING: Kaduna govt returns El-Rufai-conquered lands to Abacha family

The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has returned two plots of land seized by the former governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai, to the family of former President, General Sani Abacha.

The lawyer for the Abacha family, Reuben Atabo, confirmed the incident to newsmen.

The Director-General of the Kaduna State Lands Department, Mustapha Haruna, said that Governor Uba Sani had sent a letter to the Abacha family, confirming the return of the plots.

According to the letter, the families were also required to pay the tax due on the land.

Since April 28, 2022, the former governor of the state, Nasir El-Rufai, had confiscated the plots and cancelled their ownership, a move that caused controversy at the time.

Governor Uba Sani, on his part, stated that the decision to return the plots was aimed at ensuring justice for all.
