BREAKING: Kano government plans to seek surplus fuel revenue from the federal government since 1999

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has written to the Kano State House of Assembly, urging the Federal Government to release to Kano State its share of the surplus funds from the Nigerian Natural Gas (NLNG) project for the past 25 years.

Reading the letter, the Speaker of the House, Jibril Isma’il Falgore, said Governor Abba had requested the House to intervene to facilitate the recovery of the surplus funds that have been due to Kano State since January 1999.

In the letter, the governor said that if the House approves the resolution, he would facilitate the search for suitable means to recover the funds accumulated over the years, saying that the recovery of the funds would help boost the state’s economy and enable the Kano State government to address its priorities for the benefit of the people.

The House Majority Leader, Lawan Husseini Dala, stressed that the House resolution is the key to getting the funds, explaining that this will enable the governors’ group to take appropriate decisions to release the funds to the states.
