BREAKING: Lagos lawmakers hail Tinubu’s achievements

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Thursday highlighted some achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing him as a blessing to Nigeria.

Speaking during plenary, the lawmakers praised Tinubu, saying he assumed office at a time when Nigerians were at a crossroads regarding the country’s socio-economic status.

Raising the motion, Tobun Abiodun (Epe I) told colleagues that Tinubu’s policies had begun yielding positive results in less than two years of his administration.

Tobun, a fourth-term lawmaker, noted that the country’s Gross Domestic Product had grown due to Tinubu’s economic efforts.

“Currently, the policies are yielding positive results, and the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has increased. The Naira is gradually gaining strength. There is no longer fuel scarcity in the country. We must encourage the Federal Government to sustain the progress made over the past two years,” he added.

Majority Leader Adewale Temitope (Ifako-Ijaiye I) said Tinubu’s actions demonstrated that he was well-prepared before assuming leadership.

He said the Federal Government under Tinubu continues to meet Nigerians’ needs, citing operational refineries that have contributed to lower Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) prices.

Temitope also praised Tinubu’s efforts and sacrifices, calling him a true democrat whose leadership strengthens the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at state and national levels.

He reaffirmed the House’s commitment to the party’s ideals, its leadership, and the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), which guides the party in Lagos.

Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa II) commended Tinubu’s fight against insecurity and his efforts to reduce inflation.

Aro Moshood (Ikorodu II) praised the President for reviewing the country’s minimum wage upwards and attracting over $40 million in investments.

Moshood also lauded Tinubu for mitigating the effects of subsidy removal through economic interventions.

Before ruling on the motion, Speaker Mojisola Meranda expressed optimism that the President would meet Nigerians’ expectations.

“I believe the President will take us to the Promised Land. The start was rough, but it is now clear that his policies are delivering results. This is a positive outcome in such a short time. Investment in security architecture is also yielding results, as insecurity is declining,” she said.

Meranda directed acting Clerk, Taiwo Ottun, to send a commendation letter to Tinubu, acknowledging the positive impact of his policies and programmes.
