Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, has assured residents of a constant water supply by 2027.

Wahab, who said this while speaking with journalists about the ongoing Adiyan Phase 2 water project, stated that the state government was resolute in solving the water problem.

According to Wahab, the Adiyan Phase 2 project, designed to produce 70 million gallons of water per day, will be complemented by other mini and micro water works, including Iju and Adiyan 1, to achieve a total output of 100 million gallons per day.

“With 70 million gallons and then we have Iju with Adiyan 1 alongside micro and mini water works, the majority of Lagos houses and homes will have pipe-borne water, which is our target, and we are looking at sometime in 2027,” Wahab said.

Wahab, who commended the progress of work on the project, despite a revised calendar plan, noted that the project was expected to be completed in the last quarter of 2027.

He stated, “If we put this together with what we have on ground, the 70 million, Adiyan 1 will give us 11 million, Iju is about 4 or 5 million among others, we are looking at 100 million gallons per day.”

The commissioner emphasised that the state government’s target was to provide uninterrupted water supply to residents, adding that the appointment of Mukhtar Tijani as the Managing Director of Lagos Water Corporation was aimed at overseeing the completion of the water project.

Wahab quoted Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, as saying, “We must solve the water problem.
