Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has charged graduating students of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, to make the country top on their agenda.

Tinubu, who called for unity and commitment to nurture the country, also urged the graduands not to be afraid to dream big.

She spoke on Saturday on the OAU campus, shortly after being conferred with the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Public Administration at the grand finale of the 48th Convocation Ceremony of the university.

The President’s wife, who expressed the belief that a better Nigeria would be achieved with unity and dedication, announced ian ncrease in her endowment fund to the university to the tune of N200 million.

She said the gesture was in furtherance of her commitment to education.

In her words of admonition for the graduands, Tinubu said, “I know you can do so much more with the additional knowledge you have just acquired. I would like to charge you, as you move on in life, that Nigeria should be first on your agenda as this nation belongs to all of us.

“We must all be united and committed to nurturing it to reap the good of this land for the sake of our generation and those to come. We must all be ambassadors of Nigeria and nurture our environment. Do not be afraid to dream big, and never forget your love for your country.

“To further my commitment to education, I have increased my endowment fund to the University to Two Hundred Million Naira (N200,000,000).”

In his remarks, President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Special Adviser to the President on Economy, Office of the Vice President, Tope Fasua, implored Nigerians to cooperate with his administration and endure the current unintentional hardship.

“As we are trying to fix, reconfigure and correct past mistakes and errors, we implore all Nigerians to cooperate with us, to endure this unintentional hardship so that, like the graduates of today, we all can celebrate and be celebrated at the end of the day. I am certainly seeing the light at the end of our tunnel,” Tinubu said.
