Leaders of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Remo Stars have extended their lead at the summit of the table on Wednesday night.
The Daniel Ogunmodede side extended their lead to eight points after coming from two-goals down to secure a 3-2 victory over Abia Warriors in Ikenne.
Ezekiel Ayodele and Ijoma Desouza were the goalscorers for the visitors while Olamilekan Adedayo, Jabbar Malik and Franck Mawuena netted for the hosts.
Mawuena scored the winning goal in the 53rd minute to ensure the Sky Blue Stars top the standings with 42 points after 21 games.
In another thrilling encounter, Ikorodu City stunned former champions Kano Pillars as they returned to winning ways with a 4-1 coasting.
Goals from Shola Adelani, Austin Uzondu, Rabiu Ali and Marvelous Freedom sealed it for Ikorodu City, while Abba Adam netted Pillars’ consolation goal.
At the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa, Bayelsa United also thrashed Sunshine Stars 4-1.
Elsewhere, Akwa United played a 1-1 draw with Lobi Stars at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.
In Maiduguri, El-kanemi Warriors defeated holders Rangers 2-1, with Salihu Nasiru netting a brace, while Isaac Saviour was on target for Rangers.
