Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday officially commissioned the highly anticipated St. Finbarr’s Road project, spanning 4.7 kilometers from the University of Lagos Main Gate in Akoka to Deeper Life Church in Gbagada.

The upgraded road includes St. Finbarr’s Road, Jagunmolu Street, Asani Street, Tijani Ashogbon Street, Shogbamu Street, and Diya Street in Shomolu, Lagos Mainland.

The project, which boasts walkways, service ducts, and solar-powered street lighting, is designed to ensure that the road remains functional and sustainable for the long term, according to the governor.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that Lagos State would not settle for anything less than excellence, reiterating his administration’s commitment to delivering quality public services.

In his remarks during the commissioning, the governor urged the residents of the areas covered by the project to take proactive steps in maintaining the infrastructure.

He noted that a well-maintained road would result in more efficient use of state resources, freeing up funds for other essential projects.

“The longer our roads last, the more the resources we are able to free up to attend to other projects,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He also highlighted the historical, cultural, and educational significance of the areas benefitting from the upgraded roads.

The governor went on to emphasize that the commissioning of the road upgrade was part of his administration’s ongoing commitment to the “Greater Lagos Vision,” an initiative focused on enhancing the city’s infrastructure, public services, and quality of life.

He reiterated that the road rehabilitation project aligned with the first pillar of the THEMES+ governing agenda, which prioritizes transportation, real estate development, and the overall well-being of Lagosians.
