According to the government, the 11-member Tripartite Technical Committee is expected to fast-track implementation of the new National Minimum Wage.
It was gathered that the committee comprised representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress among others.
Speaking on the newly inaugurated committee, the chairman of NLC in Bauchi State, Dauda Shuaibu said the committee’s inauguration follows a meeting between members of the organized Labour union and the Bauchi State Executive Council.
Shuaibu also noted that the committee has already approved the payment of N70,000 to the state workers as minimum wage.
Also noting that the aim is to develop strategies for the payment process for the new minimum wage, the NLC chairman said the committee would begin work immediately with negotiations commencing on October 4.
He said, “This development marks a significant milestone in the efforts to enhance the living standard of workers.
“This timeline ensures that the implementation process is expedited to ensure workers benefit from the new minimum wage without delay,” Shuaibu said.
