Ukraine’s Defence Minister Rustem Umerov announced on Thursday that the Netherlands has delivered F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine, marking a significant boost to the country’s air defence capabilities.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Umerov confirmed that the newly acquired F-16s, along with French Mirage jets, will soon be deployed for combat missions. “These aircraft will soon begin carrying out combat missions, strengthening our defence,” he said.
The delivery of F-16s represents a milestone in Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to modernise its military amid continued hostilities. Western allies have pledged to provide advanced weaponry to bolster Ukraine’s defence against Russian aggression, with the Netherlands playing a key role in supplying fighter jets. The addition of these aircraft is expected to enhance Ukraine’s ability to counter aerial threats and conduct strategic operations.
