Grammy award-winning artist Damini Ogulu, widely known as Burna Boy, has been recognized as the most successful Nigerian artist of all time on Apple Music.
This achievement was announced by the streaming platform in celebration of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary. Apple Music unveiled a list of the top 10 most streamed Nigerian artists and songs in the history of the platform, with Burna Boy securing the top spot.
Following closely behind Burna Boy in the rankings are fellow Nigerian music icons Wizkid, Davido, Rema, and Asake. The remaining positions in the top 10 are held by Tems, Omah Lay, Fireboy DML, BNXN, and Olamide, showcasing the immense talent and global appeal of Nigerian music.

On the song front, the remix of Rema’s global hit “Calm Down,” featuring Selena Gomez, emerged as the most streamed Nigerian track of all time on Apple Music. This was followed by Burna Boy’s anthem “Last Last” in second place, while Wizkid’s chart-topping hit “Essence,” featuring Tems, came in third. Other tracks that made it to the top 10 include Tems’ “Free Mind” at number four, and Burna Boy’s “Ye” securing the fifth position.
The list also featured tracks like “Location” by Dave and Burna Boy, another version of “Calm Down” by Rema, Ayra Starr’s “Rush,” Burna Boy’s “On The Low,” and Wizkid’s “Come Closer,” which features international artist Drake.
In addition to celebrating these achievements, Apple Music also highlighted Nigeria’s rich cultural diversity by spotlighting several Afrobeats stars from different regions. Among those featured were 2Baba from Jos, Omah Lay from Port Harcourt, Odumodublvck from Abuja, Shallipopi from Benin City, Seyi Vibez from Lagos, Jeriq from Enugu, Bloody Civilian from Abuja, and Qing Madi from Benin City. This recognition not only showcases the influence of Nigerian music but also pays homage to the vibrant and diverse music scene that continues to shape global music trends.
