Coach Eric Sekou Chelle has made it clear that nothing but victory will suffice when Nigeria takes on Sudan in their second Group B fixture at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Zanzibar.
Following a disappointing 1-0 loss to defending champions Senegal in their opening game, the Super Eagles B are under pressure to deliver a win and keep their qualification hopes alive.
The all-important clash against Sudan holds today at the Amman Stadium, with Nigeria needing a strong response to avoid an early exit from the competition.
Speaking ahead of the must-win encounter, Chelle emphasized the urgency and significance of securing all three points.

“I just want to win this game against Sudan; this is my game project. We are under pressure but we are ambitious and must win tomorrow. This game is the most important for us because a win can bring something good for the team,” Chelle said at Monday’s pre-match press conference.

Nigeria’s performance against Senegal was marred by missed chances and a lack of cutting edge in the final third. Chelle is expected to make tactical adjustments to spark a more clinical display from his team and ensure they make their opportunities count this time.
The CHAN tournament, which features only players plying their trade in their respective domestic leagues, serves as a platform to showcase emerging homegrown talent. For Nigeria, it’s also a chance to reassert her pedigree in African football.
With their tournament hopes hanging in the balance, the Super Eagles will be looking to bounce back in style and reignite their CHAN 2024 campaign with a vital win over Sudan.
