Maverick musician and activist Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has weighed in on Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s recent apology regarding tithing.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God had previously apologized for a statement he made, suggesting that those who do not pay tithes would not make it to heaven.

Adeboye admitted he was wrong, clarifying that the Bible does not teach such a notion and apologized for the earlier remark.

In response, Charly Boy expressed that the apology held little significance unless Adeboye promised to return the tithes he had collected from church members over the years.

He argued that many individuals, in their desire to secure a place in heaven, had given money under false pretenses. Charly Boy also took aim at church hypocrisy, stating that some of the most judgmental and deceptive people can often be found in churches.

He pointed out that Adeboye’s past controversial statements, such as advising people to throw away their televisions, had always struck him as questionable.

Charly Boy concluded his post by condemning the apology as insincere, accusing Adeboye of knowing exactly what he was doing all along.
