El-Kanemi Warriors FC continued their preseason preparations with a narrow 1-0 win over newly promoted Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Barau FC in a friendly encounter held at the Barau Stadium, Danbatta.
Kick-off was delayed due to a heavy downpour, but both sides eventually fielded strong starting lineups. Zayad Musa led the line for the Warriors, while the defensive duo of Godspower and Muritala Dagbo provided a solid foundation that kept the first half goalless.

After the break, the Babagana Umara Zulum Boys upped the tempo and pressed for a breakthrough. Their efforts paid off in the 63rd minute when Al’amin delivered a precise pass to newly signed forward Jonas Emmanuel. The former Nigeria U-20 striker, recently acquired from Niger Tornadoes, calmly slotted home to give El-Kanemi the lead.
Despite creating multiple opportunities to extend the margin, the Warriors were unable to add to their tally. However, head coach Kabiru Suleiman Dogo made tactical substitutions to maintain energy levels and secure the win.
A rematch between the two teams is scheduled to take place again at the Danbatta Stadium, as El-Kanemi Warriors gear up for tougher preseason tests against Plateau United and Mighty Jets in the coming days.
