Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has clarified that his only interaction with Bobrisky during the latter’s time in prison was regarding a request for financial support.

Bobrisky, who was jailed for three months after pleading guilty to naira mutilation following an arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was released on August 5, 2024.

On September 24, 2024, self-proclaimed activist and social critic Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, leaked an alleged voice recording of Bobrisky.

In the audio, Bobrisky claimed that a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and his son, Falz, helped get the EFCC to drop money laundering charges against him while he was in prison.

In response to the controversy surrounding this leaked recording, Falz, through his lawyers at Falana & Falana’s Chambers, denied having any direct conversations with Bobrisky regarding his legal troubles.

He explained that Bobrisky had only reached out to him to ask for N3 million to pay certain officials to secure a spot in the VIP section of the Correctional Centre.

In a widely circulated letter on social media, Falz also accused VeryDarkMan of making careless and unverified statements about him without reaching out for clarification.
