The Federal Government has denied reports circulating about discussions with foreign countries regarding the establishment of foreign military bases in the country.

A statement on Monday by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, clarified that there was no such discussions or proposals to situate such military commands as being speculated.

The government urged the public to disregard these false claims completely.

The minister clarified that while Nigeria values foreign cooperation in addressing security challenges, there are no ongoing talks about hosting foreign military bases on Nigerian soil.

He restated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to enhancing partnerships with other nations to bolster national security, in alignment with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Idris said the statement aims to dispel misinformation and assure citizens of its stance on foreign military presence in the country.
