FG Plans Car Manufacturing in Nigeria by December 2024

The federal government has announced Nigeria’s upcoming commencement of local vehicle manufacturing before the year’s end.

Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, revealed this during a meeting with the African Association of Automotive Manufacturers and the Nigerian Automotive Manufacturers Association in Abuja on Friday, May 3rd.

Uzoka-Anite stated that funds have been allocated to support local manufacturers in advancing the nation’s automotive industry.

Emphasizing the importance of sourcing vehicle materials locally, the minister urged stakeholders across the automotive ecosystem to align with the Nigerian Automotive Development Policy and contribute to the nation’s economy.

The African Association of Automotive Manufacturers, dedicated to enhancing the automotive sector’s industrialization across Africa, collaborates with governments to shape policies, attract investments, and promote sustainable mobility solutions.

Headquartered in Johannesburg, South Africa, the association serves various stakeholders including manufacturers, investors, and policymakers.
