  • A woman was said to have passed away after drowning a lagos river during the accident.

A woman has reportedly passed away, following a boat capsize in Lagos state.

According to reports, the victim, identified as Abosede the wife of a farmer, Jesuyon drowned after a boat conveying her capsized.

It was gathered that Jesuyon and Abosede had gone to their farm through their boat, and on their way back, the canoe they boarded with Jesuyon’s teenage in-law, Mary capsized.

This happened in the Erekiti River in Lagos State on Sunday, March 30, 2025.

Confirming the source, a source noted that while the boat experienced the accident, the farmer jumped into the river, but was only able to save Mary, while his wife drowned.

Also confirming the incident, on Sunday, April 6, the spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin said;

Based on the report, teams of Marine policemen and local divers were mobilised for a search and rescue operation. Efforts are ongoing to recover the missing body. The investigation is in progress,” 

NCoS Denies Allegations of Unlawful Detention of Patience Jonathan’s Domestic Staff
