Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, has shattered box office records with her latest movie, ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa’, which grossed N45 million on its opening day.
According to the Nigerian Box Office, the movie drew 9,409 admissions, surpassing the opening day record of Akindele’s previous film, ‘A Tribe Called Judah’, which had 8,870 admissions.
The Nigerian Box Office stated, “Everybody Loves Jenifa shattered box office records yesterday. It had the biggest opening day for a Nollywood film with ₦45.2M!”

The Nigerian Box Office, which disclosed this rating via its official handle on X, stated that ELJ opened with over 9,000 admissions, tagging the movie as the biggest opening day for a Nollywood film.
This, it noted, surpassed that of her previous movie, A Tribe Called Judah, which had 8,870.
