Ganduje’s Loyalist Urges Tinubu to Exercise Caution in Potential Pact with Kwankwaso | Daily Report Nigeria

A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Dr. Musa Kwankwaso, has advised President Bola Tinubu to approach any potential agreement with former governor Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) with extreme caution.

This warning comes as discussions of a possible merger between the two parties gain traction ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dr. Kwankwaso, who previously served as a commissioner under former governor Abdullahi Ganduje, emphasized that any negotiations should include key APC leaders from Kano to ensure accountability and transparency.

“It is no longer a secret that President Tinubu met with Kwankwaso to discuss a possible merger. However, this should be done with care and caution,” he stated.

He specifically named important party figures, such as Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and House Majority Leader Alhassan Ado Doguwa, as essential participants in these discussions. “I say this because I know the kind of person Kwankwaso is. It would not be difficult for him to betray the talks, regardless of the fact that they are with the President,” he added.

Dr. Kwankwaso asserted that Kwankwaso is losing political ground within the NNPP, with many loyalists abandoning the party for the APC. “Kwankwaso is jittery now—he is losing his political relevance, which is why he is willing to accept any position offered by the APC government,” he said.

Efforts to reach the Kano NNPP Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, for comment were unsuccessful.
