How 12-Year-Old South African Girl Gives Birth On January 1

A bitter-sweet event has played out in South Africa, after a 12-year-old girl puts to bed.

According to reports, the young girl delivered a baby in the Eastern Cape MEC of Health Ntandokazi Capa on the first day of the year, alongside 39 other people.

The father of the child is said to be a 17-year-old.

So, we are really saddened about that, in one way or another this is statutory rape so we will rope in other departments. We need to find out who is the father of this baby and also call upon parents to educate their children as there are many options for contraceptives”

Other abnormal child birth cases also include a 16-year-old girl, who was impregnated by a 22-year-old man in KwaZulu-Natal.

Speaking on these, KZN health MEC Nomagugu Simelane said;

“While the ages of the fathers of these babies are not known, we do know that one of the 17-year-olds, who gave birth at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital, was impregnated by a 26-year-old man,”

She added that investigation has began to make sure someone is held responsible.
