IGP Egbetokun Orders Major Reshuffle in Police Force, Deploys New AIGs to Key Zones | Daily Report Nigeria

In a major shake ups, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, on Friday announced the deployment of new Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to strategic zones across the country.

The reassignments are part of the IGP’s plan to fortify the nation’s policing structure and address emerging security concerns.

According to Egbetokun, the new appointments reflect a well-thought-out strategy to improve the Nigeria Police Force’s response to evolving criminal activities.

“The posting of these seasoned officers to critical roles is designed to strengthen our policing operations and tackle emerging security challenges effectively,” Egbetokun said in a statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The newly appointed AIGs include AIG Suleiman M. Yusuf, who has been posted to Zone 9, Umuahia; AIG Ahmed Ammani, assigned to Zone 1, Kano; AIG Zachariah Fera, appointed to Zone 4, Makurdi; and AIG Augustina N. Ogbodo, who will head the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Lagos.

Addressing the new appointees, Egbetokun emphasized the importance of prioritizing the welfare of police officers while maintaining professional ethics and human rights standards in policing.

“I urge all of you to work diligently and collaboratively to maintain law and order, combat crime, and protect lives and property,” he said.

The IGP also called for greater public cooperation with the police in its efforts to provide security and ensure the safety of all Nigerians.
