Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet President Bola Tinubu on Sunday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja during an official state visit.

The event will mark the first visit by an Indian prime minister to Nigeria in nearly two decades.

According to a statement released by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga on Saturday, Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive in Abuja later in the day. This visit comes 17 years after Dr. Manmohan Singh’s trip to Nigeria in 2007, when a strategic partnership was established between the two nations.

During their meeting, President Tinubu and Prime Minister Modi will hold bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening the relationship between Nigeria and India. Both leaders are expected to address various areas of cooperation, including trade, investment, technology, and cultural exchanges.

“Both leaders will exchange signed Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) to enhance collaboration in critical sectors,” the statement said.
