Controversial self-proclaimed sex therapist Hauwa Mohammed, better known as Jaruma, has opened up about the reasons behind her decision to get married.

Jaruma, who married Ross Fahad Isabor in 2018 and divorced him in 2021, revealed during an interview on the ‘Issues and Society’ podcast that her marriage was influenced by societal pressure, not love.

She explained that she faced intense criticism from the northern community due to her business of selling aphrodisiacs as a single woman.

“There was massive criticism from the north because I was selling sex products as a single lady. They wondered why a single woman was teaching them about what happens in the bedroom for a lot of money,” she said.

Despite the backlash, Jaruma’s business flourished. “The sex industry is a multi-billion-dollar industry, and I made N760 million in just three years. I couldn’t just walk away because of the criticism,” she added.

Feeling overwhelmed by the pressure, Jaruma decided to get married, thinking it would help ease the scrutiny.

“I didn’t marry for love. I got married a month after meeting my ex-husband just to escape the pressure from the north. He knew it wasn’t for love, but because of the pressure, and I told him that.”

It is worth noting that in 2022, her ex-husband, Ross Fahad Isabor, publicly warned Jaruma to stop using his name to promote her products, which he labeled as “fake.”
