Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has officially approved a new minimum wage of N71,000 for civil servants, effective November.

The announcement emphasised his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of workers in the state.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Governor Yusuf highlighted the decision as a significant step toward social justice.

“In line with our commitment to social justice and enhancement of the standard of living for our workers, we have approved the sum of 71,000 naira as the new minimum wage in Kano State,” he stated.

The governor noted that the new wage would result in an increase of approximately N6 billion in the state’s monthly salary obligations and an additional N7 billion for local government councils.

Also, Governor Yusuf revealed that over 20,000 teachers in the state received promotions, leading to a salary increment totaling more than N340 million. He commended the state minimum wage implementation committee for their diligent work in facilitating these changes.
