Kano PDP Elects Yusuf Kibiya as New State Chair | Daily Report Nigeria

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano State has elected Yusuf Kibiya as its new chairman.

Kibiya, a former Commissioner for Agriculture under Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso from 1999 to 2003, won decisively, securing 3,964 votes against his opponent, Nura Nuhu, who garnered just 244 votes.

Halilu Mazagani, chairman of the party’s Election Committee, announced the results on Sunday and praised the successful conduct of the congress as a sign of unity within the party.

He emphasized that the PDP is committed to overcoming internal challenges to emerge as a formidable opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Mazagani stated, “Our party, being the largest in Africa, faces some internal challenges, but we have learned to manage our differences. We are mobilizing like never before to ensure our success in the upcoming elections.”

Former Kano governor Senator Ibrahim Shekarau also addressed attendees, affirming the PDP’s readiness to challenge any party in future elections, including the local government elections scheduled for October 26, 2024.

He assured that the party is focused on presenting credible candidates to the electorate.
