Man In Court, For Calling Governor ‘Chronic Womanizer ‘

A man has been remanded in prison for the crime of cyber bullying.

The man, identified as Paul Gyenger, a 35-year-old was parades before a Magistrate court for allegedly calling the governor of Benue, Hyacinth Alia a chronic womaniser on social media.

Mr Gyenger, who was charged with the crime of cyberstalking and defamation of character. Was remanded in prison by the presiding judge, Justice Kelvin Mbanongun.

It was gathered that the prosecution counsel, Insp Godwin Ato, told the court that the case was reported at the anti-cybercrimes and narcotics unit, Makurdi, by the ADC to the governor, ASP Ver Ingyatu, on October 16, 2024.

Mr Mbanongun adjourned the matter until December 17 for further mention.

Ato added that the suspect had taken to his Facebook page with the name Terna Sunday Tyo and wrote “the governor is a chronic womaniser’.

Mr Ato further said the offence contravened sections 24 of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015 and 393 of the Penal Code of Benue, 2004.
