A man has been remanded before a chief Magistrate court in Enugu state for murder.
According to reports, the man, identified as Anthony Onyeukwu, 47 has been paraded before a Magisterial District, and presided by Ngozi Edeh Anih in Enugu state, over the death of his 11-year old houseboy, Goodluck John.

Confirming the arrest, the Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs and Social Development, Enugu Mrs. Ngozi Enih noted that the suspect was arrested following a tip off by a whistleblower.
The whistleblower added that the death of little Goodluck can be linked to the family he served as an houseboy to.
While Mr. Onyeukwu claims Goodluck died of an ailment, it was gathered that he had buried the remains of the boy in the boy’s hometown in Abia State without reporting his death to the appropriate authorities.

Arraigning the suspect last week, the Police Prosecutor- Inspr Calista Ifeanyi, said;
“The charge sheet marked: CME/631C/2024 read, “That you, Onyeukwu Anthony ‘m’ on 15th day of October, 2024 at about 20:30 hours at No. 4, Mike Onyeka Close, Loma Linda Extension, Maryland, Enugu, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, did unlawfully k!ll one Goodluck John ‘m’ aged 11 years and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 274 (1) of the Criminal Code, CAP 30, Vol. II, Revised Laws of Enugu State of Nigeria, 2004.”
Delivering judgement, the Chief Magistrate ordered that the suspect be detained in the correctional facility until the reports from the Director of Public Prosecutions, Ministry of Justice, Enugu, is expected.
