Many Dead, Hundreds Flee As Herdsmen Attack Benue Community

• Many have been confirmed dead, following a recent herdsmen attack in Benue state.

• This comes after a recent attack at a security post in the state, where a security guard was killed.

Once again, a community in Benue state has experienced an herdsmen attack, as properties and lives were destroyed.

In an attack recorded as the second in April, the herdsmen attacked the community in the evening of Tuesday, April 15.

The herdsmen reportedly attacked the Otobi community in Akpa district of Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State.

A resident who confirmed the incident said;

“We are being attacked by herdsmen at Otobi community, my wife and children are fleeing from the community as I speak, please call for help,”

Confirming the incident to Channels TV, the representative of the Otukpo-Akpa Constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly, Kennedy Angbo said the incident started around 5:30pm.

He added that while the number of casualties have not been ascertained, hundreds of people have fled the community.

The police are yet to comment on the development as of press time.
