Minister, Chrisland chief urge pupils to be focused, independent

Interior Minister, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Managing Director of Chrisland Schools, Lagos, Mrs Ibironke Adeyemi, have urged pupils to be focused and purpose-driven.

They spoke at the school’s joint valedictory service at   Oriental Hotel in Lekki, Lagos.

Tunji-Ojo said they need to be independent and focused.

Adeyemi said pupils were exposed to academic and leadership programmes at home and abroad to boost their skills in leadership, capacity, sports and co-curricular activities.

She lauded the founder, Dr Winifred Awosika (OON) for her support, praying God continues to keep and bless her.

She urged the pupils to shine as they proceed on another journey in life.

Officiating minister, Rev. Peter Oludipe, Bishop of Ijebu  Diocese of The Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, urged the pupils to make use of the scriptures in their daily lives. He admonished them to live right and put God first.

Stressing importance of robust networking, guest speaker, Senior Franchise Director of Coca-Cola, Mrs Phoebe Dami-Asolo, encouraged the pupils  to be resilient as they proceed to the outside world.

 “You are going into the world where people fight for everything. Let nothing stop or silence you. Go with the grit and resilience for the outside world. Do not take no for an answer.  Success is not about age, gender or skin colour. The only limit to yourself is you. You are well equipped. Let nothing stop you. Stay in touch with one another. Empathise, grow and shine together…” she said.

Joana Eke, who spoke for valedictorians, said: “Together, we celebrate our individual milestones and strong sense of unity and purpose that Chrisland fosters in its schools.

‘‘We thank our Chairman/Founder, Mrs. Winifred Awosika, for her vision to empower young minds through quality education.  Our gratitude extends to the management for sustaining that vision. Same goes for the teachers who never gave up on us, our parents, and every staff who contributed to our journey.
