Men of the National Agency For Food and Drug Administration Control have hit a new milestone as they uncover a fake medicine in Lagos state.

Daily Report Nigeria gathers that the agency recovered the counterfeit medicines during a raid in Lagos state.

The NAFDAC raided the Tyre Village, Trade Fair Complex, Lagos State, which led to the seizure of fake pharmaceuticals, including Amoxicillin 500mg, Ampiclox capsules 500mg, and packaging materials for Augmentin capsules 625mg. The facility has been placed on HOLD, and all illegal products have been evacuated.

Confirming the incident in a statement released by the agency, an estimate of over N300 million worth of fake medicine was recovered, which poses a high risk of treatment failure, organ damage, and potential carcinogenic effects due to unknown compositions.

NAFDAC urges the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office to help combat the circulation of fake medicines.
