Nigerian govt declares Tuesday, Wednesday public holidays for Eid-el-Fitr

The Federal Government has stated that Tuesday, April 9th, and Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, would be public holidays to commemorate Eid-el-Fitr.

Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of the Interior, affirmed this on behalf of the federal government.

Tunji-Ojo commended the Muslim Ummah on successfully finishing the fasting in the holy.

Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako who disclosed this in statement on Sunday in Abuja said the minister called on Muslims “to imbibe and practice the virtues of kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighbourliness, compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).”

“He urged Nigerians to continue in the spirit of Unity in order to improve and achieve peace and oneness in the country.

“The Minister wishes all Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration and prays that the peace, blessings and favour of Allah be with everyone and our Great Nation”, the statement added.
