Chieftains Reject Kwankwaso, Burn Red Caps in Protest | Daily Report Nigeria

Members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Niger State have publicly disowned Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiya movement.

This bold statement unfolded during a North Central Zonal meeting held in Minna, where Dr. Gilbert Agbo, the factional National Chairman, denounced Kwankwaso’s leadership as a significant threat to the party’s progress and unity.

“Kwankwaso’s suspension by the National Working Committee in Lagos nullifies his membership and influence within the party,” Agbo asserted, emphasizing the need for a cohesive direction free from divisive factions.

His remarks were underscored by a symbolic act of defiance— the burning of Kwankwasiya’s signature red caps at the party’s state secretariat, marking a definitive break from the former leader.

Agbo further announced that Governor Kabir Abba Yusuf of Kano State is scheduled to face the party’s disciplinary committee due to alleged disregard for party principles and authority.

In response, Mallam Danladi Umar Abdulhamid, a prominent figure in the Kwankwasiya Movement, labeled Agbo’s actions as self-serving and iillegitimate.

“Agbo’s position as national chairman is not recognized by us. His actions serve his personal agenda rather than the interests of our members,” Abdulhamid declared.

He reaffirmed that Kwankwaso remains the national leader of the party under Dr. Ahmed Ajuji’s leadership.
