The Kano State Police Command has issued a warning to residents, cautioning them against taking to the streets under any guise.

Daily Report Nigeria reports that the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna, made this clear while parading arrested criminals at the Command’s headquarters in Bompai Kano on Monday.

Haruna clarified that the police will not tolerate a repeat of the violence that erupted during the recent #EndBadGovernance protests.

In light of the upcoming Independence Day celebration on October 1, 2024, the Police Command has assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to guarantee adequate security during and after the event.

Haruna urged residents to cooperate with the police and other security agencies, participate responsibly in the celebration, and adhere to all safety guidelines and respect the rights of others.

In addition, security deployments have been made at strategic locations across the state to prevent any potential security threats related to the alleged planned nationwide protest on October 1.

Notably, the police have reported a reduction in crime rates, with 89 suspects apprehended for various offenses, including kidnapping, human trafficking, armed robbery, drug dealing, and forgery. Out of these, 53 have been charged to court, while 36 are still under investigation.

The Police spokesman announced that the Command’s efforts in community-oriented and intelligence-led policing have yielded positive results, with notable strides made in combating crime and ensuring public safety.
