A statement released by the Ondo state police command has debunked rumours of a murder case involving the Convoy of The first Lady of Nigeria.

This comes after a car among the convoy was alleged to have killed a nine year old girl.
The Ondo state police command has come out to rule out rumours regarding an accident linked to the convoy of the first lady.
Daily Report Nigeria recalls an earlier news, stating that a car among the convoy of the first Lady, Remi Tinubu had killed a young girl in Akure, Ondo state.

In a recent statement, the police command tagged the rumour as false and misleading.
Remi Tinubu was said to have been present in the state for the launched of the Renewed Hope Initiative Health Programme and to distribute 10,000 professional kits, including Crocs and scrubs, to midwives across the South-West.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ondo state police command, DSP Olufunmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya said the news was spread by news platform, Sahara Reporters.
While stating that the report wasn’t inaccurate, she added that it lacked full transparency and credible basis.
The statement reads;
“The attention of the Ondo State Police Command has been drawn to a false and misleading report published by Sahara Reporters on April 17. It alleged that the convoy of the first lady, Sen. Oluremi, was responsible for the tragic death of a young girl in Akure,”
“Eyewitness accounts and preliminary investigations conducted by the command confirm that the incident was caused by a hit-and-run driver operating an unregistered white Lexus vehicle, and not by any vehicle associated with the first lady’s convoy.”
The police added that the little girl, who was said to be seven years old instead of mine which Sahara Reporters recorded was knocked down in a case of hit and run.
The girl’s mother and eye witnesses also corroborated the story, stating that the incident happened in Oba-Ile area of Akure, Ondo state.
“Sahara Reporters inaccurately claimed the deceased girl was nine years old. According to her parents, the child was actually seven years old, highlighting the publication’s disregard for factual accuracy, even in a matter as sensitive as this,”
“At no point was the first lady’s convoy involved in this tragedy,” the police spokesperson reaffirmed.
The Ondo state commissioner of police also visited the parents of the victims, while stating that the police has launched a full investigation into the incident.
